Dynasty Warriors 5 features special items which you can only get by meeting special conditions on certain stages (on any difficulty), saddles and harnesses used to start stages with a special mount, and elemental orbs, which add special capabilities to your charge attacks. This section explains what these items do, and where they can be found.

Rare Items (Red Items)

Rare Items (Harnesses)
Obtain rare items by meeting special requirements on stages. Find on any difficulty.
Elephant Harness

Effect: Begin stage mounted on an elephant.
Stage: Battle of Nan Zhong (Nanman Forces)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Without allowing any enemy officers into your main camp, rescue Wu Tugu, King Duosi, and King Mulu.
Hex Mark Harness

Effect: Begin stage mounted on Hex Mark (Luck Increases)
Stage: Battle of Cheng Du (Liu Bei’s Force)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat Zhang Ren within one minute of his ambush and save Pang Tong.
Red Hare Harness
Harness
Effect: Begin stage on Red Hare (Fastest Horse)
Stage: Battle of Chang Shan (Yuan Shao’s Force)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei, all within a minute.
Shadow Harness

Effect: Begin Stage on Shadow Runner (Cannot be Dismounted)
Stage: Battle of Liang Province (Allied Forces)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat both Zhang Ji and Hu Zhen within 45 seconds of their arrival. This may seem very difficulty, but in fact there isn’t much to it. Just make sure your officer gets the kills directly, and use Red Hare to move from one to the other (if you use another horse, you’ll have to cut it quite close). Clear both the northeast and southeast forts before Dong Zhuo arrives, and wait in one of them. He will say, “Did you think I would come without a plan?” and both officers will arrive. Kill the first, then run toward the second, which will be moving toward the center of the map.

Elemental orbs add an element to your charge attacks. Obtained on hard or higher difficulty.

Requirements: Defeat 200 enemies within two minutes.
Ice Orb

Stage: Battle of Guan Du (Yuan Shao’s Force)

Requirements: Defeat Cao Pi within the first four minutes of the stage.
Light Orb

Effect: Attacks break through the enemy’s guard.
Stage: Battle of Wu Zhang Plains (Shu Forces)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat Cao Ren, Zhen Ji, and Xu Zhu within the first five minutes.
Shadow Orb
Elemental Orb
Effect: Uses musou gauge. Enemies may be killed in a single attack.
Stage: Battle of Wu Zhang Plains (Wei Forces)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat Jiang Wei while Zhuge Liang is still alive.
