Hello Jrondo4,

Mimecast 32 Bit

These are all good questions and I think we should probably look at how we could have answered these for you while you were on our site but seeing as we didn't, here are some answers.

  1. Inbound and Outbound filtering for spam and viruses - You are correct. We do perform these checks on both in and outbound paths. If you chose our archive service too, we also AV check all messages being deposited into the archive via journal so that we can help prevent a future outbreak when a user accesses something form the archive.
  2. Email queuing/spooling in the event our Exchange environment is down - Email queuing is a natural element of an MTA that has been positioned by many gateway companies as a continuity provider. It is not. Mimecast will attempt to deliver all items into your organization for 2 days as part of normal delivery mechanisms. This is a queue that becomes spooled because the items cannot be delivered. You do also have the option to do what we call 'pause inbound deliveries' where we stop trying to deliver the messages to you until you are ready. How long we do this for will depend on your volumes but we're generally happy to do this for a few days. You do not need to buy continuity for this.
  3. In the event of an Exchange outage, we need staff to be able to receive and respond to email through the spam filtering provider Mimecast provides Email Continuity (yes, it can be bundled with Security though the UEM Express bundle) to allow users to directly send and receive messages during outages. This is provided through a number of channels. They can access 58 days (including currently spooled items and longer if you have Email Archive with us) worth of their emails through the Mimecast Personal Portal, a web-based interface, they can continue to use Microsoft Outlook and have new messages delivered directly to their inbox and send items as per normal, or they can use one of our BlackBerry, iPhone, Android or iPad apps to both view and send mail.
  4. Support for multiple email domains Mimecast does indeed support multiple domains - there is no functional limit on these.
  5. LDAP/Active Directory (AD) integration - AD integration provides many things. First, it allows us to reject messages for unknown users at the gateway. Second, it allows your users to log into any of the Mimecast services using their AD credentials as we pass the auth request back to your AD. Thirdly it allows you to create policies against your AD structure, groups, attributes so that you don't have to recreate any of that structure in Mimecast and can have a measure of user management through AD. '(eg. Apply a gateway policy to an AD group. New joiner gets added to the group and the policies applicable are automatically applied.)
  6. Configurable Quarantine Reports/Spam Digests multiple times per day - Digests are sent to groups on the hour - you specify which hours - all 24 if you want. Most customers seem to choose two or three times per day to cover off overnight (first thing in the AM), early afternoon (post lunch) and late evening (prior to close). Microsoft Outlook users can also view their quarantines (we call them 'hold queues' directly within Microsoft Outlook and can release items from there.
  7. Outlook tools or add-ins for end users to better manage spam directly from Outlook - Mimecast Services for Outlook (MSO) is a powerful tool that puts control directly in the hands of your users. Well, the control you want them to have. MSO exposes tools to users based on application settings it gets from Administrator set directives. You might want some users to be able to manually activate continuity mode and others not. You might want some to be able to report spam and block senders themselves but others not. Importantly, to your question, users can report spam, block senders or domains, manage personal block/permit lists, manage personal hold queues, manage 'moderator queues' where they are moderators and they can even specify what security level to apply (should this be encrypted, sent via CCM..) Other features are also accessed by MSO, things like Large File Send, Archive search, Continuity, feedback and more.
  8. Technical Support options - Mimecast have three support levels, Email, Business and Priority. Email is email based support during office hours, Business is both email and telephonic during office hours and Priority is both email and telephonic 24 hours. They have associated SLA's.
  9. Service Levels - Thank you for your observation. We do have really good SLA's that accompany our service. A 100% service availability SLA backs our claims and helps to incentivize us to be better with every iteration.
  10. Is there a trial offered? We do not offer 'trials' per se, what we do have is a 30 day cancellation policy that allows you to back out of a contract with no strings if, after 30 days, you feel that we haven't lived up to our claims.

I hope I have answered your questions to your satisfaction and suggest that if you have more I'd advise giving our nearest sales office a shout or chatting with one of our folk on the click to chat piece on the website.
