This is an updated tutorial on how to watch PPTV shows and movies online.
Follow my guide below, and you get to watch tons of free blockbuster movies and TV dramas.
This popular Chinese TV service offers live and video-on-demand; TV programs, movies, drama, sports, news and entertainment video contents.
How To Watch PPTV Shows And Movies Online
For those of you of can’t read Mandarin, but like to watch PPTV movies, here is an easy-to-follow guide in English together with visuals.
1. First go to http://www.pptv.com.
2. Click on the blue color PC monitor screen symbol on the top right hand corner of the homepage.
3. PPTV setup exe box will pop up. Click on the “Save File” button.
4. It will start downloading as shown below:
5. After finished downloading. Click on “pptv_online_setup.exe“.
6. A box (User Account Control) will pop up, asking you: “Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer“. Click “Yes“.
7. Then a big blue color logo with the letter “P” appears for a few seconds and then a black color box pops up as shown below.
8 . Click on the button in the center of the box.
9. Another box pops up. Wait for it to download. You can see a thin glowing blue line running across the box. (as shown above)
10. At the same time, your Windows Firewall may appears to warn you.
11. Select the first option: “Private networks, such as my home or work network” and then click the “Allow access” button at the bottom right hand corner.
12. Before the whole process is completed , a black box pops up, as shown below:
13. Remove the tick signs (checks) from all the tiny boxes.
14. Then click on the blue color “Finish” button at the bottom right hand corner.
15. Once it is done, the homepage will pops up with the message that you have successfully setup PPTV in Mandarin, as shown below.
Now you should see two PPTV icons on your computer.
PPTV (homepage) and PPTV Video Online Video.
You can us either one to access all the free TV shows and movies.
I tried it out for myself.
I came across a great Mandarin movie called “Peacock“.
It is written by Li Qiang and directed by Gu Changwei, a famous cinematographer.
This 2005 film premiered simultaneously in both China and in competition at the 2005 Berlin International Film Festival.
It is a simple, touching story about the lives of ordinary Chinese people immediately after the Cultural Revolution.
Now you can enjoy endless hours of entertainment.
